canoeing facts:
this week i went for canoeing for the whole week.
we played soccer for 5 hours on mon. my gosh it was so tiring that afternoon training was canceled.
did lots of art stuff during study sessions!
today is the first time in my whole life where i trained 2 water trainings in a day.
im turning into a national canoeist.
and i thought 1 land and 1 water training in a day was bad enough.
now i know why cl always goes home and sleep in the afternoon.

canoeing. study sessions. canoeing. study sessions. canoeing. study sessions. canoeing. study sessions. canoeing. shopping!!! canoeing.
this pretty much sums up my whole holiday.
i sadly declare that i have no life.

going obs tmr!! whoo. dont miss me ppl.

today sucked.
overwhelming disappointment.
note this day. 17th june 2006. the first time in nj history where we lost to another junior college in dragon boating.
i finally realised this:
a group of strong individuals does not make a strong team.
i held too high expectations. others overestimated us. we underestimated our opponents.
thats all i have to say.

i hope sdbf will be good. like our tertiary mixed boat in MR500. how i wish i can row like THAT again. that crew. the best crew ever.

canoeing camps over. this time was well, pretty slack. didnt really feel like a training camp at at all. first day had training in the morn, then played canoe polo!! haven played it for such a long time! was really fun. had to do circuits also. watched men of honour at night. first day was super tiring.

second day we went to ford factory museum. then hiked from there to bukit timah nature reserve, climbed to the top and back down and hiked all the way back to macritchie for training. wait did i mention, each of us were carrying at least 5kg bags (we weighed them). and the stupid ones (like me) didnt bring backpacks and so we carried sling backs. ahh. had relay races of 250m each on the water! i rowed t2 with sh n sl. waa haven rowed t2 for so long!

third day was in my opinion a waste of time. rained in the morn so we had study session. was supposed to train in the afternn but no teachers were free so we couldn train. played some get-to-know-each-other games instead. was super funny! ha. we seldom have so much fun and laughter in njcanoeing.

as quoted from cherry:
love the sport, love the people, hate the cca.

changing violin strings is a very mentally draining event! you need absolute mental focus and courage to turn the pegs. every moment where you are tightening the strings, your heart beats faster and faster. theres this little edging fear in the corner of your mind that the string might snap. every time you turn the peg, it gives a loud menacing squeek, (that sounds wrong. how can a squeek be loud) which makes your heart skip a beat. as the string gets tighter and tighter, the level of stress increases. and when the string is perfectly in tune, you can heave a sigh of relief, and exclaim, "i just managed to change my violin string!" haha. whew. nvr had the guts to do it. always asked my teacher to do it for me. :DD

I AM SO TOTALLY IMPRESSED BY MERVIN. HES AN 8 YEAR OLD KID.
just went to mrs ts place to teach one of her students piano. this guy. mervin. hes 8 years old. hes taking his licentiate soon. the 3rd diploma. he took 3 exams a year.

teaching him was quite easy. except for the debussy piece. i didnt know how to teach him the pedalling part la. i always do pedalling by err intuition. how do you teach intuition?! his pedalling was very muddy and the notes kinda clashed.

guess what. he COMPOSES music. hes 8 years old! for goodness's sake he should be doing what 8 year olds do!! :DD and the pieces he compose are not those kiddy types.. they are well, "i take extracts from the great composers, like vivaldi's spring, and a part of bach's partitas and piece it together to form my own piece". when he played for me his own compositions, my jaws dropped. really dropped.

ha he was quite a show off. picking pieces from the book, exclaiming, "i know how to play this!" and he starts playing. whoa. but well. he is damn good. i was freaking impressed.

did i mention hes sight reading is better than mine? ha.

when i asked him, "do you want to be concert pianist in future?"
he replied, "yea." instantly.

this was one dude who knew exactly what he wanted in life.

note to guys: the way to melt a girl's heart is to compose a jaw-dropping piece and play it on the piano. :DD

today was totally awesome. true blue rocks!! yayyy.. love my team :DD

went for oac's adventure challenge. the following is for my own keepsake:
met up at sun plaza park. got our shirts and our first clue. couldn solve it! ha then went to pulau ubin. went for a hike up to the highest peak. waa our navigation sucks mann. haha. missed the entrance and had to run back. then had to cycle. this was the worst part. we went up and down and then realised that we were back at the start point! then we went up again and got back to the same point again. waaaaaa. wasted alot of time. was the fifth group to leave ubin.

then had to go to yishun interchange. had to wait for the bus la. by then everyone caught up with us! we were like the eighth group mann. had to go to sembawang hotsprings. we ran all the way there! and managed to get to do the task while some other groups had to wait. had to estimate how long it took to boil an egg and put our legs in the water with it. frank cheated! haha he left the membrane intact when he peeled the egg. hahaha and the game masters let us off.

had to go to tp for our vertical challenge. 40 storeys leh. we asked the guys to go first cause they were faster. waa they ran all the way up and back down again to cheer us on. so sweet. i almost died okayy. was so tiring. we were very fast. then had to go macritchie. we took a wrong route and missed the bus! haiz. all the other groups caught up with us AGAIN. ran all the way into macritchie while some groups didnt bother. saw the other njcanoeists there. was a bit weird. had to row the big fat canoes with those heavy paddles! lol the paddles were so long my angle was totally off. haha felt as if zk rowed the whole boat himself. :D whoa. really appreciate our brasca paddles and k2 boats then. even t2 would have felt like heaven. ha. after that went to bishan fire station. we took a super long route again. and another group caught up with us! did abseiling. was really fun!!

after that we thought we were going back to nj but had to go all the way to little india. the task was: if we eat 5 chillis, we have to run all the way back to nj. (thats at least 9km la) eat 10 chillis and we get to take bus to acs barker and run back to nj.(thats still pretty far. 4km i think) super funny! zk was buying drinks so in the meantime the rest of us started eating the chillis and by the time he finished we finished eating the chillis already! ha. then went to barker and ran all the way back to nj. the guys carried our bags for us! so nice. ended up 3rd! yayyyy. if we didnt screw up our cycling we might have been 1st. we were the only group who ran the whole race la. we made up for our screwed up directions with our fitness. hahaha. so many times we thought we were very smart and took a 'short cut' and ended up wasting time. haha.

overall it was a really good experience! much more tiring than training! oh yea the 1st group were canoeists too!! yayyy. canoeists rock! i think my teammates were one of the best people that a team could ever want. :DD actually i wasn planning to ask frank n zk to join us. but im glad i did. this was what happened:

it was the day of funtasia prep. was sitting at my stall thinking of which guys to ask. was planning to ask 2 ip2 guys at first. then, frank ran past. hmm maybe i shld ask the j1 canoeists. then was on my way to ask the 2 ip2 guys that i had in mind. then, frank was running back again. lol. so i asked him. he said he wld ask zk and get back to me 15 mins later. lol so i continued on my way to ask the 2 ip2 guys. was looking for them when frank called. that was how our awesome team formed.

YAYYYY.

my feet hurt like crazy!! went shopping with bingx and nat today! met bx at tp and we went to orchard. my shopping list was: handbag, tote bag, heels/flats, nail polish and violin strings. and i only managed to buy nail polish and strings! argh. walked from ps all the way to far east! so damn far. makes me wonder how we ever ran a marathon. gonna go shopping with nat again on tue to buy the rest of the stuff.

i have counted. i officially have only 8 days of the whole jun hols free. the rest are filled with canoeing, study sessions and obs. thats pretty sadd.
